CCR WORLD SERVICE
Went window shopping tonight. There is lots of fun to be had in Cairo when it’s night time. Bought a 16 GB drive at radioshack so I can back up all the photos I take ever. I saw an analog phono mixer on sale for $100 or something. It made me miss being home. Also found a cool netbook for sale that I might buy. Do you think I can run Ableton on 1.6ghz and 1 GB RAM?
All said and...

Today I saw the model home from arrested develpment. Or At least a home that was exactly like it. It was alone on a steep hill next to the desert road. The drive to New Cairo today gave me a lot of good pictures. I can post them likely tomorrow.
Today is also the 5th day since my computer crashed. Tonight I may go window shopping. Radioshack is always my fallback for ‘lectronics, but now I...

Ghana Wins World Cup U20!
I just watched a fantastic football match. The game was 0 0 after two overtimes. Ghana had loads of injured players and had to keep making substitutes. Their goal keeper made great saves in overtime to prevent great shots by Brazil. Then the match went into a shootout, tied at 3 3 and Ghana scored a 4th point in sudden death. Fantastic.

Blogging tonight from BEAU JARDIN CAFE in Lebanon Square. Currently I’m watching Brazil v Ghana in World Cup U20. Today my computer crashed. Now I need to find a good place to get it fixed. Thank you Mom for the iPod, boy it is a blessing to have a backup computer. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for my sick MacBook pro.
The score is 0 to 0 in the 93rd minute. Go Ghana!
The Flaming Lips YOSHIMI BATTLES THE PINK ROBOTS
This is an early album that I took a liking to. My story tonight is about an afternoon/evening when I was 13. I was in the 7th grade at Bay Middle School. What I remember about YOSHIMI was that I listened to it on a yellow sony walkman on the bus ride to and from University Circle on Cleveland’s East Side. I borrowed the CD from my brother that day and listening to The Flaming Lips made me...

Blogging tonight from CEDAR’S cafe in Mohandessin. The cafe has become my new favorite hang out here because it has a wonderful atmosphere and free wireless. And indeed I enjoyed a fabulous cup of American Coffee here. It tastes much better than most coffee I have tasted in America.
Updates from today. I registered for my winter quarter classes today at the stroke of 6:00 EST. It’s...
The National SAD SONGS FOR DIRTY LOVERS
The first time I heard The National was in the passenger seat of my White Volvo 740 station-wagon. My brother Dan was asking me if I knew who was playing but wouldn’t ever tell me. He said I had to figure it out for myself. Years later, I did. We had been listening to CARDINAL SONG that night in the car. It wasn’t until 2007 that I started listening to The National, but once I heard...
CCR TOP 25
Last night I imagined a new subject for this site. Again I make no guarantees about my ability to follow through on this ambition. However, I was enjoying an album that has become very special for me and I began to list, in my mind, all the music that I have come to love. So, I decided to write short stories about each of my favorite albums. Generally speaking, they will all be from the last 4...

Keeping with my ambitions, I am posting photos today of a walk I took on the 6th of this month. The images are from the area near my Flat in Mohandessin. Tuesday was a typical day in Egypt with 90F temperatures and not a cloud in the sky. It was however a Holiday here and I had the day off work. 6th of October commemorates the victories of Egypt against Israel in the Yom Kippur War of 1973. I...

CCR FILM REVIEW
Every time I see Howl’s Castle I just marvel at how incredibly beautiful this film really is. The idea of such a simple love story is turned into so much more. And, as I watch it over and over I find myself falling in love with the simplest details of the film. Hayao Miyazaki has the ability to create such fanciful stories and I recommend additionally Ponyo, his most recent movie. The more...
